I hope everyone has a good day! Thank you for your contribution through the funding and many words of encouragement. Your support made our effort feel worthwhile and motivated us to work harder for our development.
Today, I would like to share with you the procedures of “Pruning” and “Spacing” the cashew tree. Proper pruning and spacing are one of the most important first steps in achieving good quality and abundant harvest since it can promote the cashew growth through adequate sunlight, good nutrition absorption from the soil and reduce the spread of disease and pest.

Pruning is the process of cutting out branches of a tree that might have affected the other branches in the future, providing better tree structure and promoting growth. It is also important to rub medicine or pesticide to protect the cut area.

Other than pruning, spacing the cashew tree can be said to be the most crucial step for high quality and quantity harvest as it will be very hard to change the location of planting once it is done. For fertile soil, it is recommended to space each cashew 7 meter apart from each other and trees will be cut down diagonally when they reach 3-4 years-old, resulting in each tree 14 meter apart with one in the middle.

Then a second cut will occur when they are around 12 years-old in the middle of the bunch which result will be each tree is spaced 14 meters apart from each other for adequate sunlight and nutrition.

So, these are the pruning and spacing procedures for cashew trees. I sincerely hope you can grasp the knowledge and appreciate our farmer's hard work and dedication to grow and care for the trees. Thank you and see you again in the next article.
